ALL ABOUT MONEY
A two-hour documentary essay for A&E, shot on location
around the world, featuring a creative mix of documentary
live-action, historical evocation and recreation, and archival
materials. National broadcast, spring 1999.
THE
SECRET LIFE OF MONEY
A complementary special to the essay All About Money (also
broadcast on A&E in 1999), employing the same production
techniques but taking a more chronological approach to the
history of money from barter and primitive coinage to the
stock market and the future of money.
CALIFORNIA
AND THE DREAM SEEKERS
The
dynamic and colorful history of the Golden State told from
the perspective of its citizens who still cling to the past.
This four-hour series, commissioned by A&E for broadcast
in 1998, includes live action sequences documenting notable
Californians engaged in the reliving and recreation of the
state’s history, unique archival records brought to life,
and historical reenactment.
BATTLESHIP
This epic history of the battleship -- the nuclear weapon
of its day -- commissioned in 1996 by the Discovery Channel,
earned double the average Discovery audience on its premiere
in 1997. From Dreadnought to Desert Storm, this two-hour
special utilizes important historical archive, yet is based
on original live action sequences shot aboard historic vessels
in England and the United States. It was produced in close
cooperation with the United States Naval Institute.
PETS: PART OF THE FAMILY
Now
in its second thirteen-week season of production in the United
States and England, this fully underwritten series of half-hour
programs about the unique bond between people and their pets
is distributed to public television stations nationally by
American Public Television. Featuring Gary Burghoff (Radar
of M*A*S*H), the program offers up documentary stories that
illustrate every dimension of the relationship between people
and their pets.
